Straightforward Carling Cup on Wednesday for Premier League Sides

After the Topsy Turvy first round, and the debacle that was Tuesday night, this evenings games in the Carling Cup look like they should be fairly straightforward

Four premier League sides are in 2nd Round action as Blackburn Rovers and Everton play at home and take on the two Sheffield sides, Wednesday and United respectively. Bolton Wanderers have another home tie against Macclesfield, whilst Liverpool travel all the way down the M5 to play Exeter in the game that could throw up the shocker. Completing the line up, Peterborough United will play at home versus Middlesbrough, in what looks like the tie of the night.

But rarely do things work out like they appear they will. Finally there are two first Round matches to be completed this evening too. West Ham United host Aldershot whilst there is a derby between Bristol City and Swindon Town. The former should be a comfortable home win, whilst the latter is best left alone for betting purposes.

Betting Odds

Check the odds comparison box below. There are some tasty odds for draws at 90 minutes tonight. Alternatively, the temptation to put three or four of these Premier sides into an accumulator is there but after Tuesday night, and events of the first round, that would be a very brave call, plus the odds are tight!

My call is for a Bristol City win (1.80) and Everton win (1.44) in singles. They would also make up a 6/4 double as the most speculative punt of the night.
