Football: League One Midweek Previews – MK Dons and Doncaster Rovers

Football: League One Midweek Previews – MK Dons and Doncaster Rovers

League One midweek action could include wins for Doncaster and MK Dons Again a quick eye on the three teams relegated from the Npower Championship will demonstrate just one win for those sides in the opening weekends games. That went the way of Doncaster who also managed the feat on the road, travelling to Wallsall and completing a comfortable 0-3 reverse. They face Bury who couldn’t score in a 0-0 draw on Saturday at home to Brentford. First bet of the season in League one then: Doncaster HOME WIN at 1.85. The two sides have not met since 2004 in the league when Doncaster run out 3-1 winners, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar scoreline on Tuesday night. Bournemouth managed to save a point at Fratton Park versus Portsmouth on Saturday, and they face another tough task on Tuesday with Milton Keynes Dons visiting Dean Court, or...

Football: Npower Championship Midweek – Blackpool v Leeds Utd

Football: Npower Championship Midweek – Blackpool v Leeds Utd

The Npower Championship season may only be but a few days old but this is the time of year when the games come thick and fast. And so we move on to the second game for most clubs in the second tier of English Football. Nothing to read into the first weekend of matches; it’s surely too early, but of note was but a combined single point for the three clubs relegated from last seasons Premier League. All three had away fixtures to be fair as Blackburn were held to a draw at Ipswich thanks to a late own goal, whilst Bolton were beaten by a goal in each half with no return in their opening derby match at Burnley and Wolves suffered a 1-0 defeat at Elland Road versus Leeds United. Leeds are one of nine sides in the division who recorded wins in their opening game and...

Football: Premier League 2012/13 Opening Games

Football: Premier League 2012/13 Opening Games

A quick look at this weekends opening games of the season in the Premier League and what we might expect to find for a betting angle In all honesty, it doesn’t seem a moment go Aguero was sticking the most unlikely of goals in the back of the QPR net to clinch the most ridiculous of Premier League titles to date. Only a blink away from Reading, Southampton and West Ham making the leap from Championship to top flight English football, the former as Champions, the latter through the Play-0ff lottery. With the Euro’s and the Olympics squeezed in between, it seems the break has been short and the talk about everything but the Premier League. (with the exception of the “will he-wont he” RVP saga, which has thankfully come to a close with a move to Manchester United). Onto Match Day One then…………. HOME WIN OF THE WEEKEND My interest...

Football: It’s very nearly here!!!

The English and European Football seasons 2012/13 are nearly here. So time to get writing again. After a nice summer break and a fantastic Olympic games, the wheeling and dealings of the Football world have not gone unnoticed and I am about ready to start concentrating on the first sport once again. The Scottish Premier has begun already, as has, the Third Division which includes Rangers NEWCO now. The English Premier League is upon us, as is the Championship, Football League and European Leagues. The Champions League and EUFA Cup qualifying rounds are well under way, I will once again be looking to target specifically the Champions League proper to gain a nice pot in which to blow on the latter stages. Lots of news, views, previews and betting opportunitites to come then, so welcome back, and here’s to a great season of Football. Marc.

Football: Champions League Final – Bayern Munich v Chelsea

Football: Champions League Final – Bayern Munich v Chelsea

Bayern Munich can lift the trophy on home soil. Bayern can prove to organised and strong for Chelsea in the 2012 Champions League final when the two teams meet in the Allianz Stadium in Munich on Saturday night. Home advantage will be a huge advantage for the Germans; a look at the stats backs up the view. Whilst my view is that Bayern will ultimately lift the trophy on Saturday, most probably by winning withing the 90 minutes, they could also finish off Chelsea in extra time or even if the match emulates Bayerns Semi final against Real Madrid and goes to penalties. English teams have one only one of the last eight European finals they have contested, and Chelsea have played thier own part in that Statistic in recent years. Expect some celebration from the Chelsea fans though as I do expect them to get on the score...

Horse Racing: MAYBE Aiden O’Brien has the POWER to Land Guineas Double

Horse Racing: MAYBE Aiden O’Brien has the POWER to Land Guineas Double

Aiden O’Brien will be looking to score a Guineas double across Saturday and Sunday. He may do as well, but perhaps not in the most obvious fashion. All eyes and expectation falls onto the shoulders of Montjeu’s son CAMELOT to write a fitting tribute to the classic producing sire who died just a few weeks ago. Trained at Ballydoyle by Aiden O’Brien he is a short priced favourite to add to his Racing Post Trophy win at Doncaster last season. Many would suggest that through his breeding perhaps further might be better for him. Montjeu is more likely to produce winners over 1m4f than the Guineas 1m trip. O’Brien is double handed coming into the race with POWER his other representative. Power is partnered by Ryan Moore today and has had a fair amount of racecourse time already with six outings. Winning four of those, the two defeats came only by...

Football: FA Cup Final – Liverpool v Chelsea

Football: FA Cup Final – Liverpool v Chelsea

Liverpool and Chelsea look to get something from the season as they meet at Wembley Stadium in the 2012 FA Cup Final. There is a strange feel about the 2012 FA Cup Final. SO many breaks from tradition. For a start the game is not the season closer for the English Football season. Traditionally it has been played after all the leagues have finished their fixture lists, but this year the premier League is far from finished, let alone decided. Both Manchester Clubs who fight out for the Premier League title are not involved as Liverpool compete for a second trophy of the season and Chelsea hope top make it the first of a brace as they face Bayern Munich in the Champions League final. Kick off time has been switched, no longer do we have the build up to the traditional 3pm kick-off. Today we have to 5.15pm So to...
