Blue Bunting cut to 6/1 St Leger after Yorkshire Oaks success

A triumphant Frankie Dettori rode Blue Bunting to victory at York today in the Yorkshire Oaks. The market responded immediately, with her price cut to 6/1 (from 8/1) for the Doncaster Classic by both Victor Chandler and SkyBet. Before punters go piling in off the back of today’s success however, there are a couple of things to note. Firstly that Sheik Mohammad has stated that options should be kept open to her, and this will most likely have a direct correlation to the record of fillies in the Leger. User Friendly was the last filly to win the race back in 1992. Vita Nova ran well for Henry Cecil to finish second, but always held by the Godolphin star, whilst Wonder of Wonders could only manage third place after coming to challenge but getting unbalance under pressure. 3:40 – Darley Yorkshire Oaks (British Champions’ Series) (Group 1) (Fillies &...

Celebrity Big Brother Kicks off Tonight – Jedward Favourites to Win

So it returns, Celebrity Big Brother is back. Marmite TV at its best, but for us betting types, and particularly traders, an event that is generally looked forward to with anticipation. Davina has gone, and Brian is in. Channel 4 gone, switch up one to C5 Jedward are in and if nothing else but annoying, should make for entertaining TV in the short term as they are guaranteed to ruffle some feather and get on some nerves in the confines on the BB house. Amy Childs and Sarah Ferguson appear high in the odds and make up the top end of the Female challenge, whilst the Testosterone will be in evidence as Ricky Hatton and Paddy Doherty go in. More to come later……

Thoughts on the Knavesmire For Thursday 19th –

Follow @MarcOwenBanks 2.00 Premier Yearling Stakes This one would be nice if it went to the Barrington Hills and Richard Hills partnership with West Leake Diman. Two excellent runs to date at Haydock and Newmarket where not a foot has been put wrong. The win was probably not expected last time out, but leading almost all the way he was game and will improve again for the outing. he does come up against a very strong contender in Richard Hannons CROWN DEPENDANCY who deserves every respect, not only for connections, but a winning 6f debut at Goodwood has been followed up by good performances in group events including a third place finish in the Norfolk Stakes and a fourth place in the molecomb at Glorious Goodwood. that is serious form and it would be folly to dismiss it for speculating another can improve beyond that.   2.30 Lowther Stakes...

Where are the score draws in the Npower Championship?

I need those Score Draws!!!

Here’s something to consider, its called the law of averages, and in this instance i think it is quite significant. By far the most common result in most leagues is the 1-1 draw, hence it is almost always found as the shortest price correct score bet in the majority of game, should they not be top v bottom etc. Now, in the Championship thus far, should Palace v Cov stay 0-1, there will have been 31 completed games since the start of the season. Working on previous years averages, 2008/09 1-1 (69 games) 12.50% 1-0 (59) 2009/10 1-1 (86 games) 15.58% 1-0 (57) 2008/09 1-1 (71 games) 12.86% 1-0 (51) We might safely assume that at an average of 12% we should have had some 4-5 games finishing with this scoreline. We might also, well I do anyway, think that this inbalance will be redressed over the course of...

The Npower Championship is Mad!

The Npower Championship is Mad!

Where do I start? We are but three games into the 2011/12 season in the Npower Championship and already there have been more shock than anyone could have predicted, which indeed is a contradiction in terms. Honestly, who could possible have predicted newly promoted Southampton and Brighton would be joined by A Derby side who suddenly, after a bit of summer sun and a break have decided to return to the world of competitive football? All three hold enviable 100% records, 9 points and positive goal differences. Leicester City, the pre season ante post favourites (joke from the start), have made a right mess of it already. two consecutive home defeats does not bode well for the side that has passed £10 million quid through the  fair hands of a certain Mr Sven Goran-Eriksson already. If they don’t buck their ideas up, i guess a fair few quid...
