Football: Champions League Final – Bayern Munich v Chelsea

Bayern Munich can lift the trophy on home soil. Bayern can prove to organised and strong for Chelsea in the 2012 Champions League final when the two teams meet in the Allianz Stadium in Munich on Saturday night. Home advantage will be a huge advantage for the Germans; a look at the stats backs up the view. Whilst my view is that Bayern will ultimately lift the trophy on Saturday, most probably by winning withing the 90 minutes, they could also finish off Chelsea in extra time or even if the match emulates Bayerns Semi final against Real Madrid and goes to penalties. English teams have one only one of the last eight European finals they have contested, and Chelsea have played thier own part in that Statistic in recent years. Expect some celebration from the Chelsea fans though as I do expect them to get on the score...

Qipco Long Distance Cup at Ascot – Champions Day Betting Odds and Tips

Times Up, Opinion Poll or Fame or Glory, the opening race of Champions Day at Ascot is the Group 3 Long Distance Cup over 2m and it throws up a conundrum for punters. If the betting is to be believed there are only these three in the race, maybe four if we drag Meeznah into things. John Dunlop, Mahmood Al Zarooni for Godolphin and Aiden O’Brien look set to fight out this stayers event but perhaps Sir Mark Prescott can crash the party with Motrice. Opinon Poll heads the market at present, best priced 2.33 with Betfair, he is generally available at 2/1 with the bookies. Possible surprisingly beaten last time out in the Doncaster cup by John Oxx’s Saddlers Hall, it was his 4th unsuccessful attempt beyond 2 miles, and the penny is dropping now as he comes back to 16f. At this trip, 3 wins and a...

Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock – Betting Odds Preview

August 23, 2011
By

The Betfred Sprint Cup held at Haydock. It is the course’s only Group 1 race on the flat and in 2011 is due to be run on 3rd September. The race was originally open for horses aged two and upwards. That is no longer the case and is now for 3yo+ runners only. It is not a race to be looking for trends regarding connections, as such as no trainer or jockey has had any dominance over the event in recent seasons. John Dunlop has had four winners of the race, but that is over a time spanning some 30 years since 1981. However, the following pointers may be worth noting down and checking with the form. We should be looking for one who has finished in the first four last time out. Temple Stakes runners, and those turning out quickly after the Nunthorpe are always worth noting. The...

Manchester United a huge 11/8 to be leading both halves against Spurs

Spurs travel north to Manchester and will look to spoil things for Alex Ferguson and his Manchester United side who will themselves be looking to keep early pace with “Noisy Neighbours” Manchester City who went to Bolton on Sunday and won 2-3. If previous trips to Old Trafford are anything to go by, then things do not bode well for Harry Redknapps side. They have not managed a win here in 48 matches, stretching back to 1989! If you want to find another and it’s just as long a journey back to 1976! In fact going back to 1909,I find 53 wins for the Reds in 74 games. Just 9 wins for Spurs. Talk about having the odds stacked against you. All of a sudden the 4/6 home win looks good value! To grab a little extra, how about the HT/FT market. Of the 19 home games United played...
