Football: English Premier League Game Week 2 Preview – Liverpool v Man City Top of the Bill

August 23, 2012

Liverpool play host to Man City on Sunday whilst  5.30pm Kick off on Saturday Features Chelsea V Newcastle Chelsea, coming into the weekend sit atop the table with 6 points, and may very well remain there after Saturdays action, which would make things interesting at Stamford Bridge 5.30. Wednesday night saw them take all three points in a topsy-turvy game at home, when taking the lead only to fall 1-2 behind to newly promoted Reading. But in a carbon copy of Manchester City’s game against, again, Newly promoted Southampton last week, the home side found a brace of goals, and in fact a fourth to run out comfortable 4-2 winners on the night, and with 5 assists already this season, a wonder-buy in Eden Hazard. Let’s preview each of the top flight games: Swansea City v West Ham United Swansea, if taking all three points in their first home...

Football: Premier League 2012/13 Opening Games

A quick look at this weekends opening games of the season in the Premier League and what we might expect to find for a betting angle In all honesty, it doesn’t seem a moment go Aguero was sticking the most unlikely of goals in the back of the QPR net to clinch the most ridiculous of Premier League titles to date. Only a blink away from Reading, Southampton and West Ham making the leap from Championship to top flight English football, the former as Champions, the latter through the Play-0ff lottery. With the Euro’s and the Olympics squeezed in between, it seems the break has been short and the talk about everything but the Premier League. (with the exception of the “will he-wont he” RVP saga, which has thankfully come to a close with a move to Manchester United). Onto Match Day One then…………. HOME WIN OF THE WEEKEND My interest...

Football: Champions League Final – Bayern Munich v Chelsea

Bayern Munich can lift the trophy on home soil. Bayern can prove to organised and strong for Chelsea in the 2012 Champions League final when the two teams meet in the Allianz Stadium in Munich on Saturday night. Home advantage will be a huge advantage for the Germans; a look at the stats backs up the view. Whilst my view is that Bayern will ultimately lift the trophy on Saturday, most probably by winning withing the 90 minutes, they could also finish off Chelsea in extra time or even if the match emulates Bayerns Semi final against Real Madrid and goes to penalties. English teams have one only one of the last eight European finals they have contested, and Chelsea have played thier own part in that Statistic in recent years. Expect some celebration from the Chelsea fans though as I do expect them to get on the score...

Football: FA Cup Final – Liverpool v Chelsea

Liverpool and Chelsea look to get something from the season as they meet at Wembley Stadium in the 2012 FA Cup Final. There is a strange feel about the 2012 FA Cup Final. SO many breaks from tradition. For a start the game is not the season closer for the English Football season. Traditionally it has been played after all the leagues have finished their fixture lists, but this year the premier League is far from finished, let alone decided. Both Manchester Clubs who fight out for the Premier League title are not involved as Liverpool compete for a second trophy of the season and Chelsea hope top make it the first of a brace as they face Bayern Munich in the Champions League final. Kick off time has been switched, no longer do we have the build up to the traditional 3pm kick-off. Today we have to 5.15pm So to...

Football: Champions League – Barcelona v Chelsea

I am of the opinion that the second leg of the Semi Final at Camp Nou as Barca host Chelsea could be a low scoring game and there seems to be tons of value out there. In previewing this game, running through the current position of Barca being a goal down and preferably for them not conceding a goal in this second leg, added to recent meetings between the two sides, I came to the conclusion that this is very, indeed MOST likely to be a low scoring affair in Spain. I will approach the game from two financial fronts. One as a backer looking at what seems to be a very generous Asian Handicap, and from a trading point of view in the goals markets. A bit of background to my thinking before outlining my financial interest in the game. In the last eight games at the Nou Camp, Barcelona have manged to keep...

Champions League: Tuesday Night Misery for Chelsea

Champions League: Tuesday Night Misery for Chelsea

Chelsea in tough trip to Naples and CSKA Moscow face the might of Real Madrid in the Champions League. An opportunity this Tuesday night to gain something back of the Champions League betting bank which once sat proudly at +15 points before Christmas but last week took an almighty pounding. NAPOLI V CHELSEA If things were not bad enough already for AvB and Chelsea without a win in four games, Tuesday night in Italy could compound things. The only bright thing about Chelsea’s season thus far is their European record, well, their record in Europe at Stamford Bridge that is. Whilst in front of home support they have won all three matches, scoring ten goals and conceding none in return; away from home they are win-less, gaining single points at Valencia and Genk, conceding a goal each time and going down 2-1 to Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. With all...

UEFA Champions League Draw, Analysis, Betting Odds & Tips – Group E

Here I take a look at the Champions League Draw and give some early prediction for the two sides from each group to progress. Each group will also have its own odds box to show the best odds available for each. Group E: Chelsea, Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen, Genk This looks to be the most fascinating group this year. At first glance, ultra competitive, on second look, pretty average. Chelsea, unconvincing in the Premier League last season, Valencia better in La Liga but woefully short of whats required in this competition. Bayer Leverkusen are strong at home, whilst have been very poor in Europe on the road, Liverpool beat them 3-1 twice to see them out of the comp last year. I like Genk, i like the atmosphere at their ground for midweek evening games. Unfortunately, atmosphere doesn’t win games, and Genk, although a solid enough side who don’t get...

Champions League Draw – England v Germany – Manchester v Munich

The circus that is the Champions League draw has been completed. Yes, there are some interesting match ups, there always are, but the most obvious thing this year is English Teams versus German teams in three groups. Manchester City and Bayern Munich go head to head in the already Dubbed “Group of Death” Group A. Chelsea will meet Bayer Leverkusen in group G Arsenal face Borussia Dortmund in Group F Champions League Outright Betting Odds below Barcelona are short, very very short in the betting and next come Manchester United. If either City, Chelsea or Arsenal are fancied to lift the trophy this season there are some big prices available, but again, the layers have this between last years finalists.

Premier League Betting Odds – Chelsea v Norwich Preview

August 24, 2011
By

One might think that Norwich will be deflated after a midweek mauling in front of their own fans by League One Milton Keynes Dons. The truth of the matter is the team that lines up against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is likely to be very different from that which took the field on Tuesday night. Chelsea will be rightly short priced for the home win here, and whilst I have already stated that Norwich are the promoted side I feel will fare better this season of those that came up, this is one of those games where many a side will be resigned to defeat before arrival in West London. Chelsea will make no mistake here and we can eek a bit of a bigger price out of the game by taking the HT/FT home/home double result.
