Football: FA Cup Final – Liverpool v Chelsea

Liverpool and Chelsea look to get something from the season as they meet at Wembley Stadium in the 2012 FA Cup Final. There is a strange feel about the 2012 FA Cup Final. SO many breaks from tradition. For a start the game is not the season closer for the English Football season. Traditionally it has been played after all the leagues have finished their fixture lists, but this year the premier League is far from finished, let alone decided. Both Manchester Clubs who fight out for the Premier League title are not involved as Liverpool compete for a second trophy of the season and Chelsea hope top make it the first of a brace as they face Bayern Munich in the Champions League final. Kick off time has been switched, no longer do we have the build up to the traditional 3pm kick-off. Today we have to 5.15pm So to...

Champions League: Tuesday 14th February, Barca go to Bayer

Champions League: Tuesday 14th February, Barca go to Bayer

Bayer Leverkusen host Barcelona and Lyon face APOEL in the first matches of the knock out stage of this seasons Champions League. The 2 month break from Champions League football was welcome after a pretty disastrous final round of matches. Disastrous for Manchester City, but of more concern, my Champions League betting bank. From a position of 14 points profit going into the final Wednesday, a five point loss was suffered with a total blank in five bets on the final day. The wounds have just about healed and we enter the final stage with a 9 point buffer. Two games to consider as the final stages get underway. LYON v APOEL On paper one might think that odds of 1.45 for the home win in France for this tie could offer some value and one might agree, but surely a price in excess of 8/1 for the Cypriot...

Tuesday’s Carling Cup Ties Preview

Tuesday night can see Southampton and Bristol Rovers through to round three of the Carling Cup and Aldershot taking another higher league scalp. Premier League Blackburn is the prize for the winner of the Round 2 clash between Leyton Orient and Bristol Rovers at The Matchroon Stadium. Orient have yet to win a game this season however and only progressed to the second round of this competition by winning a shoot out against Southend United following a 1-1 draw. Although they sit one division above tonight’s rivals, Rovers have made a bright start after being relegated last term and sit in 10th position in League two. Orient did win both fixtures last term, comprehensively as it goes, and will perhaps hope that this is the game that could kick start their season. Rovers havent scored in their last two league games, but come up against a side that cant...

Sunday: Npower Championship Previews, Betting Odds & Tips

Nottingham Forest v West Ham United and Watford v Birmingham Just the two games in the Npower Championship on Sunday, both have the potential to be passionate hard fought affairs as West Ham have made a good start to the season and can get themselves into the top six with a win at the City Ground. It’s not a happy hunting ground for most sides though, Forest are renowned for being the hardest side in this division to beat at home. Goals are where the money can come from on Sunday and i predict there will be a few Watford have had a shocking start to their campaign with Malkay Mackay gone. But that excuse can not be used at all now, Sean Dyche has been at the club long enough and will want his troops to try to take advantage of a desolate Birmingham City side when they...

UEFA Champions League Draw, Analysis, Betting Odds & Tips – Group A

Here I take a look at the Champions League Draw and give some early prediction for the two sides from each group to progress. Each group will also have its own odds box to show the best odds available for each. Group A: Bayern Munich, Villarreal, Manchester City, Napoli This is the Group many have already dubbed the “Group of Death”! Personally i think that is daft. they are all groups of death as in each group only the top two can go through. The betting would suggest otherwise as Manchester City are clear favourites to win the group at 2.2 with Bayern Munich at 2.63. My personal preference between that pair would be Bayern, and i think they should be clear at the top, with the remaining three fighting this out. Villareal are no mugs, although if past Champions League form is anything to go by, they will...

Premier League Betting Odds – Chelsea v Norwich Preview

August 24, 2011

One might think that Norwich will be deflated after a midweek mauling in front of their own fans by League One Milton Keynes Dons. The truth of the matter is the team that lines up against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is likely to be very different from that which took the field on Tuesday night. Chelsea will be rightly short priced for the home win here, and whilst I have already stated that Norwich are the promoted side I feel will fare better this season of those that came up, this is one of those games where many a side will be resigned to defeat before arrival in West London. Chelsea will make no mistake here and we can eek a bit of a bigger price out of the game by taking the HT/FT home/home double result.

Premier League Football Preview – Liverpool v Bolton

August 24, 2011
By

Things are certainly looking on the up for Liverpool with Kenny Dalgleish at the helm there is a renewed confidence about the fans and the club in general. They can have realistic hopes of flirting with a top 4 position this season and subsequent Champions League football next year, but any thoughts of winning this division may still have to be put on hold for at least another 12 months, despite a good win at Arsenal last weekend. Bolton are no mugs and whilst many may be predicting a difficult season battling against relegation, the squad look strong enough to play a safe year in mid table. They smashed Prem new boys QOR on the opening day by 4-0, and although going down to Manchester City last Sunday, they made City score three goals to win the game. If Liverpool have to score three goals, it will be another...

Wenger has More Than One Worry on Wednesday at Udinese as Arsenal look to progress in the Champions League

Wenger has More Than One Worry on Wednesday at Udinese as Arsenal look to progress in the Champions League

Arsenal may have to defend their 1-0 advantage versus Udinese without manager Arsene Wenger on the bench on Wednesday night in Italy. After being warned about passing messages onto his coaching staff in the first leg at the Emirates last week, he continued to do so, which saw him breach of a suspended ban from the match against Barcelona in the final 16 last season. A two match ban was therefore initiated and imposed. Arsenal have appealed, but there are no assurances, even if successful, that it will come in time for him to be on the touchline for this return leg where the gunners have only a slender 1-0 lead. After losing to Liverpool at home at the weekend, Wenger has to rally his troops to up their game at the Stadio Communal Friuli. This will be only the second competitive game for Udinese this season as they...
