Horse Racing: MAYBE Aiden O’Brien has the POWER to Land Guineas Double

Aiden O’Brien will be looking to score a Guineas double across Saturday and Sunday. He may do as well, but perhaps not in the most obvious fashion. All eyes and expectation falls onto the shoulders of Montjeu’s son CAMELOT to write a fitting tribute to the classic producing sire who died just a few weeks ago. Trained at Ballydoyle by Aiden O’Brien he is a short priced favourite to add to his Racing Post Trophy win at Doncaster last season. Many would suggest that through his breeding perhaps further might be better for him. Montjeu is more likely to produce winners over 1m4f than the Guineas 1m trip. O’Brien is double handed coming into the race with POWER his other representative. Power is partnered by Ryan Moore today and has had a fair amount of racecourse time already with six outings. Winning four of those, the two defeats came only by...

Horse Racing: The John Smith’s Grand National 2012

April 3, 2012

Easter is upon us and the John Smith’s Grand National is now upon our doorstep. The National Hunt season draws to a close with the final hurrah at Aintree raceourse. We have watched our favourites run all winter and enjoyed a fabulous Cheltenham Festival, now it’s off to Aintree to the most popular race of the year, over the testing (although not as testing, fence wise, as it has been over the years) Grand National fences and course. I run through my shortlist, and come up with a few for consideration. For the full Grand National card, I have for years used trends as opposed to form as the approach to the Grand National. It has served me well, and the full set of trends even outlined the 2010 winner Mon Mome at 1001/, although, I left it out as a French Bred!!!!! I use the same approach for...

Horse Racing: Cheltenham Betting Odds and Tips for Saturday

Whilst the flat code of racing enjoys it’s day in the sun at Ascot with the day of champions, there is some National hunt action taking place at NH HQ, Cheltenham.  Gordon Elliot is getting the feel for the course and has employed Tony McCoy to ride his MANGER HANAGEMENT in the opening race at 2.05, the A P McCoy, the Autobiography Novices Hurdle!! Winner of his last five races, twice over fences, the last three times over hurdles, he is favourite on the exchanges to make it a six timer. I for one, will not argue with his chance. LIFE OF A LUSO has been improving all summer and comes to Cheltenham better off at the weight with Buck Mulligan. This trip is idea and the going suitable and the drop in class can only be to his advantage. He goes in the 2.40 ZEturf.comHandicap Chase I can...

Saturday Horse Racing Betting Tips – A good 10 minutes at Beverly and Newmarket

Looking through the horse racing cards today at Goodwood, Beverly and Newmaket, I have found a nice pair this afternoon with which i am going to get involved. My GOODWOOD PREVIEW is already up. I have four selections from the West Sussex track, but have to impart some more information about a couple i have see running at Beverly and Newmarket. It will all start with the 4.00 Burts Chips Made in Devon Handicap at Newmarket. NORTHSIDE PRINCE gets a second outing in as many weeks after appearing at Pontefract to give Rain Mac a job to do over this trip last time out. That was only his third outing this season. He signed off last year with a good second behind Pendragon at Ayr over 10f, and returning this year he looked to want further twice over the same trip. given the extra last time he stepped up...

Kiama Bay set to go well in Opener at York on Friday

Kiama Bay has shown consitent improvement for J J Quinn and a runner up spot behind Nemaah last time out at Ascot is fine form coming into this Racing Uk on Sky Bet Mobile Handicap at York. His mark of 95 today is unchanged from last time out. With his last five runs on turf readin, three wins and two runner up spots, and with no issues in good sized fields like today’s, coupled with the fact he has yet to be unplaced in five runs around this trip and we look to have a solid each way shout with Jamie Spencer booked to ride. Check the odds for the race in the box on the right>>>>> Just clikc the meeting and race time. All races are covered.   Have a good day. I am travelling over the weekend, so will update as and when I can get online.

Thoughts on the Knavesmire For Thursday 19th –

Follow @MarcOwenBanks 2.00 Premier Yearling Stakes This one would be nice if it went to the Barrington Hills and Richard Hills partnership with West Leake Diman. Two excellent runs to date at Haydock and Newmarket where not a foot has been put wrong. The win was probably not expected last time out, but leading almost all the way he was game and will improve again for the outing. he does come up against a very strong contender in Richard Hannons CROWN DEPENDANCY who deserves every respect, not only for connections, but a winning 6f debut at Goodwood has been followed up by good performances in group events including a third place finish in the Norfolk Stakes and a fourth place in the molecomb at Glorious Goodwood. that is serious form and it would be folly to dismiss it for speculating another can improve beyond that.   2.30 Lowther Stakes...
