Liverpool play host to Man City on Sunday whilst  5.30pm Kick off on Saturday Features Chelsea V Newcastle Chelsea, coming into the weekend sit atop the table with 6 points, and may very well remain there after Saturdays action, which would make things interesting at Stamford Bridge 5.30. Wednesday night saw them take all three points in a topsy-turvy game at home, when taking the lead only to fall 1-2 behind to newly promoted Reading. But in a carbon copy of Manchester City’s game against, again, Newly promoted Southampton last week, the home side found a brace of goals, and in fact a fourth to run out comfortable 4-2 winners on the night, and with 5 assists already this season, a wonder-buy in Eden Hazard. Let’s preview each of the top flight games: Swansea City v West Ham United Swansea, if taking all three points in their first home...

Football: FA Cup Final – Liverpool v Chelsea

Liverpool and Chelsea look to get something from the season as they meet at Wembley Stadium in the 2012 FA Cup Final. There is a strange feel about the 2012 FA Cup Final. SO many breaks from tradition. For a start the game is not the season closer for the English Football season. Traditionally it has been played after all the leagues have finished their fixture lists, but this year the premier League is far from finished, let alone decided. Both Manchester Clubs who fight out for the Premier League title are not involved as Liverpool compete for a second trophy of the season and Chelsea hope top make it the first of a brace as they face Bayern Munich in the Champions League final. Kick off time has been switched, no longer do we have the build up to the traditional 3pm kick-off. Today we have to 5.15pm So to...

Premier League Football Preview – Liverpool v Bolton

August 24, 2011
By

Things are certainly looking on the up for Liverpool with Kenny Dalgleish at the helm there is a renewed confidence about the fans and the club in general. They can have realistic hopes of flirting with a top 4 position this season and subsequent Champions League football next year, but any thoughts of winning this division may still have to be put on hold for at least another 12 months, despite a good win at Arsenal last weekend. Bolton are no mugs and whilst many may be predicting a difficult season battling against relegation, the squad look strong enough to play a safe year in mid table. They smashed Prem new boys QOR on the opening day by 4-0, and although going down to Manchester City last Sunday, they made City score three goals to win the game. If Liverpool have to score three goals, it will be another...

Straightforward Carling Cup on Wednesday for Premier League Sides

After the Topsy Turvy first round, and the debacle that was Tuesday night, this evenings games in the Carling Cup look like they should be fairly straightforward Four premier League sides are in 2nd Round action as Blackburn Rovers and Everton play at home and take on the two Sheffield sides, Wednesday and United respectively. Bolton Wanderers have another home tie against Macclesfield, whilst Liverpool travel all the way down the M5 to play Exeter in the game that could throw up the shocker. Completing the line up, Peterborough United will play at home versus Middlesbrough, in what looks like the tie of the night. But rarely do things work out like they appear they will. Finally there are two first Round matches to be completed this evening too. West Ham United host Aldershot whilst there is a derby between Bristol City and Swindon Town. The former should be...

Carling Cup devalued further as Norwich, Swansea City and QPR go out!

August 23, 2011
By

I’ve not heard anything from any corner, but I have a nasty feeling about the defeats of the three premier league clubs to go out of the Carling Cup on Tuesday night. All three constitute the promoted clubs from the Npower Championship. It has left a funny taste in the mouth. Whilst we know the big guns like your Liverpools, Man Utd’s, Arsenal’s and Chelsea’s and to a lesser extent some other established top tier teams will play weakened, “B” sides, when the three teams that have only just been promoted go out in the opening games of the competition, fielding weakened teams (with the exception of QPR it has to be said), whilst the value of the competition has been put sternly to the test in previous seasons, it has been laughed at in the face tonight by not only these clubs but also some Championship sides too....

The first time they have done so on Arsenal turf for 11 years! bet365 spokesman Steve Freeth “Liverpool have been popular in pre-season for a top four finish and even in the outright betting, whereas we couldn’t give Arsenal away. “However, both will have to improve considerably from the opening weekend if they want to get anywhere near the Manchester boys and Chelsea.” 2011/12 Arsenal/Liverpool Specials Premier League Season Matchbet Arsenal 4/5 Liverpool 10/11 To Win A Trophy Neither 4/6 One Only 11/8 Both 14/1 Top 4 Finish Neither 4/1 One Only 2/5 Both 4/1
