Liverpool play host to Man City on Sunday whilst  5.30pm Kick off on Saturday Features Chelsea V Newcastle Chelsea, coming into the weekend sit atop the table with 6 points, and may very well remain there after Saturdays action, which would make things interesting at Stamford Bridge 5.30. Wednesday night saw them take all three points in a topsy-turvy game at home, when taking the lead only to fall 1-2 behind to newly promoted Reading. But in a carbon copy of Manchester City’s game against, again, Newly promoted Southampton last week, the home side found a brace of goals, and in fact a fourth to run out comfortable 4-2 winners on the night, and with 5 assists already this season, a wonder-buy in Eden Hazard. Let’s preview each of the top flight games: Swansea City v West Ham United Swansea, if taking all three points in their first home...

Football: Premier League 2012/13 Opening Games

A quick look at this weekends opening games of the season in the Premier League and what we might expect to find for a betting angle In all honesty, it doesn’t seem a moment go Aguero was sticking the most unlikely of goals in the back of the QPR net to clinch the most ridiculous of Premier League titles to date. Only a blink away from Reading, Southampton and West Ham making the leap from Championship to top flight English football, the former as Champions, the latter through the Play-0ff lottery. With the Euro’s and the Olympics squeezed in between, it seems the break has been short and the talk about everything but the Premier League. (with the exception of the “will he-wont he” RVP saga, which has thankfully come to a close with a move to Manchester United). Onto Match Day One then…………. HOME WIN OF THE WEEKEND My interest...

It’s the Dzeko show as Manchester City thrash Spurs at White Hart Lane

Edin Dzeko, Manchester City’s Bosnia-Herzogivinian striker, took just one hour to treble last seasons goal tally against Spurs in North London today. Dzeko scores Four!! Check the Best Betting Odds for the Premier League Top Scorer Market below. He scored the opener on 34 minutes at White Hart Land and then proceeded to another another couple to rack up his hat-trick by the 55th minute. Sergio Aguero added a fourth for a rampant City side in the 60th minute to leave Harry Redknapp and Tottenham floundering. They got one back through Younis Kaboul but it was never going to be more than a consolation. Dzeko finished things off with a fourth in the closing moments to give Man City an emphatic 1-5 victory and mark their arrival on top of the Premier League table. Edin Dzeko joined City from Wolfsburg for around £30m after spending two years in the...

Liverpool and Chelsea Win on Saturday in the Premier League

Liverpool and Chelsea Win on Saturday in the Premier League

Liverpool and Chelsea will consider results on Saturday as jobs well done, although Chelsea did have one scare when they let in the sloppiest of goals to allow Norwich to come back to 1-1 before asserting and running out 3-1 winners on the day. Liverpool matched Chelsea a 3-1 scoreline against a  lacklustre and outplayed Bolton side. Elsewhere, in the lunchtime game at Villa Park, there was a stalemate, as a 0-0 draw was played out, more to the satisfaction of Wolves who with the point remained unbeaten and went top with 7 points. Chelsea have superseded them this evening by the fact they have scored one goal more. Either way Mick McCarthy will be happy with the way Wolves have started the campaign. Swansea and Sunderland fought a similarly desperate 0-0 draw. Blackburn remain rooted to the foot of the table. They looked like getting a point, even...

Premier League Betting Odds – Wigan v Queens Park Rangers Preview

August 24, 2011
By

Wigan couldn’t get past Swansea last week and have another chance against QPR who would have been bouncing for the win at Everton last weekend if not getting stuffed in the Carling Cup by lower league opposition in the week. Much like the other Premier Side that got knocked out there is a feeling that Warnock knew what he was doing with the side he put out and survival in this division can get full attention for now. An away win at Goodison would normally look impressive if it had not come during Evertons traditional poor start to a season, and it gets much less credence from me. Wigan have been unspectacular thus far, a draw against Norwich in their opening game was followed by a goalless game against Swansea. Two of three promoted sides already then and a third today with the visit of Queens Park Rangers. Wigan...

Premier League Betting Odds – Swansea v Sunderland Preview

August 24, 2011
By

Steve Bruce will be upset by the way his Sunderland side went out of the Carling Cup in midweek. Brendan Rodgers has only himself to blame for Swansea Exit, showing disregard for the competition and thinking they could match the likes of Manchester united and Arsenal and field a weakened team. They caught a cold , as did Norwich and QPR and now they can concentrate on Premier League survival for now! Or perhaps it was the plan with that last thought in mind? At the Liberty Stadium on Saturday they may have to rely on Micheal Vorm once again who has a great game last week to keep out Wigan, even saving a penalty. Up front, playing the ball around wonderfully can lead to goal but it doesn’t score them, you need a strike to get hold of the ball and shoot toward the net, unless they do...

Premier League Betting Odds – Blackburn Rovers v Everton

August 24, 2011
By

Blackburn have been tipped by many as relegation candidates this term and have done their best thus far to prove those pundits right. Steve Keane has done nothing in the transfer market for a squad that needed obvious investment if relegation would not be a threat this year. Losses to Wolves and Aston Villa so far leave them pointless and already looking vulnerable. Perhaps there may be light at the end of the tunnel as Everton step forward as next opponents on Saturday. The Toffeemen always start the season badly and punters would rarely be out of pocket backing against them through the first ten games, and this could be a breath of fresh air for Blackburn. This looks like it could be the poorest game of the weekend in the top tier, and may even be a very early relegation six pointer. Both side would be happy with...

Premier League Betting Odds – Aston Villa v Wolverhampton Wanderers

August 24, 2011
By

Alex McLeish may not have been the most popular of appointments over the summer at Aston Villa, but he is at the helm and is getting on with his job quietly. A win and a draw on the board and four points in the bank, all the time he can keep the first loss of the season at bay he can keep the Wolves from the door! Problem, the Wolves turn up on Saturday at Villa Park! This is a Wolves side that survived relegation by just a single point last season but were only eight points behind today’s rivals who were looking very safe, such it the tightness of this division. The points therefore are all that more important. Mick McCarthy has had a couple of good results already for Wolves with wins against Blackburn away and Fulham at home, but remember they lost 13 of their 19...

Premier League Betting Odds – Chelsea v Norwich Preview

August 24, 2011
By

One might think that Norwich will be deflated after a midweek mauling in front of their own fans by League One Milton Keynes Dons. The truth of the matter is the team that lines up against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge is likely to be very different from that which took the field on Tuesday night. Chelsea will be rightly short priced for the home win here, and whilst I have already stated that Norwich are the promoted side I feel will fare better this season of those that came up, this is one of those games where many a side will be resigned to defeat before arrival in West London. Chelsea will make no mistake here and we can eek a bit of a bigger price out of the game by taking the HT/FT home/home double result.

Premier League Football Preview – Liverpool v Bolton

August 24, 2011
By

Things are certainly looking on the up for Liverpool with Kenny Dalgleish at the helm there is a renewed confidence about the fans and the club in general. They can have realistic hopes of flirting with a top 4 position this season and subsequent Champions League football next year, but any thoughts of winning this division may still have to be put on hold for at least another 12 months, despite a good win at Arsenal last weekend. Bolton are no mugs and whilst many may be predicting a difficult season battling against relegation, the squad look strong enough to play a safe year in mid table. They smashed Prem new boys QOR on the opening day by 4-0, and although going down to Manchester City last Sunday, they made City score three goals to win the game. If Liverpool have to score three goals, it will be another...
